Our kittens typically join their forever families between 10 and 12 weeks of age. Occasionally, an exceptionally confident kitten may go home slightly earlier with experienced Persian owners.
Within the first week of bringing your kitten home, please schedule a wellness examination with your veterinarian. Your kitten will arrive with a health certificate and vaccination records, allowing your veterinarian to seamlessly continue their preventive care and vaccination schedule.

The first few days in a new home are a big adjustment. Your kitten may be shy, curious, sleepy, or playful as they settle into their new environment. Patience, consistency, and plenty of gentle affection will help them feel safe and loved. Before long, your little companion will feel right at home and become a cherished member of your family.

Is my kitten using the litter box?
Yes! Every Emerald Coast Persians kitten is introduced to the litter box from an early age and is confidently using it before going home. During the first few days, your kitten may need a little guidance as they adjust to their new surroundings. Keep the litter box in a quiet, easily accessible location and use the same litter we recommend whenever possible to help ensure a smooth transition.
When should my kitten have their first veterinary visit?
We recommend scheduling a wellness examination within the first week of bringing your kitten home. This visit allows your veterinarian to establish care, review your kitten’s health certificate and vaccination record, answer any questions, and plan future vaccinations and preventive care.
When should I introduce my kitten to the rest of the family?
Give your kitten a day or two to settle into a quiet room before introducing them to the entire household. Allow them to explore at their own pace and encourage calm, gentle interactions. Children should always be supervised and taught to handle your kitten with kindness and respect.
What should I feed my new kitten, and how often?
To ensure a smooth transition, continue feeding the same food your kitten has been eating here at Emerald Coast Persians. We recommend Royal Canin Persian Kitten dry food along with Royal Canin Kitten wet food. Young kittens should have access to dry food throughout the day and receive wet food two to three times daily. If you choose to change foods, do so gradually over 7–10 days.
How long will it take my kitten to adjust to their new home?
Every kitten is unique. Some settle in within a few hours, while others may take several days to feel completely comfortable. Providing a quiet space, a consistent routine, familiar food, fresh water, and lots of patience will help your kitten build confidence. Before long, they’ll be exploring, playing, and seeking out your companionship.
When is it safe to introduce my kitten to other pets?
Introduce your kitten to other pets gradually over several days. Begin by allowing them to become familiar with each other’s scent before arranging short, supervised introductions. Never force interactions, and always allow your kitten a safe place to retreat. With patience and positive experiences, most pets learn to coexist happily.
